Part III -- Rapid Population Decline Reduces Human Footprint As in other sections of this book, the essays are like puzzle pieces. They describe parts of reality not the whole thing. Much remains to explain but these pieces put the viability of the human experiment squarely on our ability to rapidly reduce population. So far we have learned that the human footprint is too big to be supported. We have learned that there is little reason to believe that solutions, that do not reduce the human footprint, have little chance of giving our children a life we would like them to have. The next essays describe the roles that rapid population decline plays in decreasing human footprint and creating a viable community. |
